Meet Jake, a favorite of many of our volunteers. He came to us covered in crawling lice and starving, lacking even the most basic care. But he was forgiving and has never once turned a mean ear or shown a cranky side. We know this guy is going to be one of our true success stories- within a couple of months, he showed great improvement in his condition. He is gentle and kind, and though we do not know his riding history, we are quite sure he has been ridden, he behaves like a horse who has had some training.

Once healthy, we're sure Jake will get snatched up by an adopter fast- personalities like his are the kind once in a lifetime horses are made of. Consider coming to meet Jake, if you want to adopt then get to know him while he finishes rehabilitating and be first on the list for this top notch gelding.

Contact Patricia at patricia@serenityequinerescue.com or call (425) 432-9697 to set up a time to meet your forever horse.

Intake Photos

Jake arrived thin, with worms internally and external lesions and an extremely bad case of lice. We immediately treated his lice repeatedly and got him onto good feed and weight gainer to help him endure the cold winter weather. We blanketed him to keep him warm and began grooming him regularly to help remove the old flaky skin and residual fur damage. We got his feet tended to by and wormed him as well. He began feeling better right away and was so patient through all his treatments, never once did he flatten his ears or show any signs of irritation. Jake is one of our most kind rescues.

Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation does not know the entire history of our rescues, we do our best to share with you our observations but cannot guarantee health, soundness, trainability or appropriateness for a specific discipline. We’re honest with potential adopters and would like to remind you that a horse’s time at Serenity is focused on healing; we encourage adopters to seek out appropriate training if desired. Serenity Equine Rescue adopts to approved homes only and does not adopt horses for the purpose of breeding or resale.
