We are heartbroken to share that Cloud's mom, Kat, had to be euthanized after a brutal animal attack on Septmber 5, 2009. For more on this story, go to King 5 News. Cloud was injured more than Braveheart (as far as we can tell) but is anticipated to make a recovery from bites and tears to his skin after the attack.
Cloud will not be available for adoption until our veterinarian is sure she has healed from the bites, which will take at least 3 weeks. If you are interested in adopting her when he is ready to go home (October), please contact adopt@serenityequinerescue.com
Patricia picked up Kat last year she was being sent to slaughter. She has some very severe leg problems that need to be addressed right away but most important was getting her healthy and ready to foal. Kat had her filly, Cloud, late in March and both are doing very well.
They are back at the Serenity ranch and this filly is breathtaking- everyone who sees Cloud falls in love.
She's just 4 months old so she will be weaned in about 2 months but we are accepting applications for her now as we've had a lot of interest in her.
A quote from one of our volunteers:
" I was sad when Kat went to foster, because she was such a very sweet, easy mare to be around. As uncomfortable as she was in a new place and carrying such a large foal, she never gave any indication that she wanted to be left alone and always seemed happy to get scritches and attention.
This Sunday was the first time I've been around her and her foal since their return, and they are both just delightful! We had a visitor in the afternoon who is interested in Stormy. She brought two little girls with her, and I was able to really make their day when I went in with Kat and Cloud and they both happily followed me back over to the fence to be oo'd and ah'd over. Cloud is very friendly and outgoing, and was gentle with the two little girls (with two adults close by and watching carefully), and Kat doesn't mind a bit when humans lavish attention on her baby. It's very clear that Kat is setting a good example for Cloud."
