Promise has been diagnosed with Melanoma (you can see the lump in her photo to the right). This is not unusual for a gray mare but very disappointing since she has made such a wonderful turnaround. Dr. Bob says horses with Melanoma can live a regular active life for a long time.
We are hoping that someone will adopt Promise in spite of her challenge. She still has many years left in that gorgeous body. Read an arcticle here: http://www.thehorse.com/ViewArticle.aspx?ID=3621.
This girl is all class- a real lady. Sweet and patient as we pull out tangles, Promise lives up to her name, She promises to you'll love her classy mannerism. You can see her pedigree here: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/eager+promises
We spoke with a former owner of Promise who said that she has Hunter Under Saddle experience as well as dressage. We believe it, she moves so nicely and loves to be ridden. We're mostly trail riding her right now and arena riding, there's not much this sweet gal won't do. Her former owner also rode her on a lot of trails.
She was so tired and listless when she came to us, her muscles sagged with atrophy and malnutrition, though she wasn't as pointedly gaunt as some incoming horses- she seemed to have lost her will do do much. But today she is so much better, always comes to the fence for love and attention (she cares more about people than food- rare!). Nothing seems to get her upset, she's just an easygoing gal!

May 09 -Look how good she's looking- we'll be riding her this week, to evaluate her under saddle.

Do you recognize this brand? if you do, we'd love to learn more about her history (or what the brand means). We love hearing from people who know our rescues because it helps us learn more about their past.
