Volunteer at Serenity

Volunteering at Serenity is a great way to help horses while keeping active, getting fresh air and making friends. Right now, we need people to help with daily chores and projects at the farm, as well as horse exercisers/trainers experienced in working with horses that have unknown and possibly difficult backgrounds. We are also seeking fundraising volunteers, administrative and bookkeeping help, and people to work at our booth during outreach events, fairs and horse shows.

Serenity has no paid staff and runs only through the work of volunteers and their invaluable contributions to the lives and welfare of our horses. Whether you spend every free minute, one day a week, or one afternoon a month with us, we thank you all!

We would also like to add a special thanks to the King County Library System volunteers who chose to spend their Day of Caring with us at the Serenity farm. More than 50 volunteers came out to help with some large projects like prepping the paddocks for the rainy season, as well as some fun meeting and grooming the horses. Thank you all for your time and hard work in improving the lives of our rescues!

Information and forms

If you are interested in volunteering, fill out our volunteer application and email your completed form to volunteer@serenityequinerescue.com, along with a signed copy of the release form. If you are under the age of 18, please use the minor's version. Our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to arrange an orientation and get you started.

Before coming to the farm for your first day, please familiarize yourself with the volunteer information packet and barn rules.

We want to remind our volunteers how much we love them -- THANK YOU ALL! You are all life savers to our rescued horses!

Corporate giving/matching

Many companies offer a corporate giving or matching program for time volunteered. Inquire with your human resources, corporate citizenship or corporate social responsibility team and put Serenity on your list of supported organizations! Please contact outreach@serenityequinerescue.com if you have any questions.

Liability: If you volunteer with us, please remember you do so at your own risk. All volunteers must sign a release form before working on the farm, as a reminder that all activities involving horses have inherent risks. Signs in the barn and arena also remind volunteers and visitors that Washington State Law protects operators, owners, trainers, promoters and others from liability for injuries or illnesses that result from an equine's behavior or health.
